Just upgraded from 8.2.0 to 8.5.0 and now the logon screensaver is no longer working. I've reset it to default and then enabled it again to no avail. I have the issue on all 3 of my machines.

Are you using 32 or 64 bit version?
Does the screen saver start? If it doesn't start usually the issue is somethingelse because screens savers are always started by windows when it detects the system is idle

64 bit, the screen saver starts as long as I'm logged on, but does not if I am not. Again, worked perfectly this morning, and then I upgraded to 8.5.0

The screen saver is always started by windows, if it doesn't start there is something in windows that prevents it from starting. No screen saver stars by itself

But why would the previous version work on all 3 of my machines, but the current version does not? Actually, I was watching one of the machines this morning and I think I saw it try to start, the screen went dark for half a second, flashed, and then went back to the wallpaper. Again, works fine if I am logged on, it's only the logon screensaver that is not working on all 3 machines.

I just downgraded one of my machines back to 8.2.0 and the logon screensaver is working perfectly.

It is possible there is something on version 8.5 that makes to crash on startup, I will check it but probably I can do it only after a week.
You could also try to disable DirectX transitions, they don't work anyway but it is possible that when trying to initialize Directx gPhotoShow crashes.
Anyway you should not have all those errors. In particular the parent not valid causes the preview to fail.

Tried disabling the DirectX transitions, but still does not work. I doubt this is helpful, but I can replace the gPhotoShow64.scr (only) from 8.5.0 with the one from 8.2.0, without changing anything else, and it works.

I think I found the cause of the issue, it was a change in the logging system implemented in 8.3
I will release a fixed a version during the first week of September, for now go back to version 8.2
Replacing only the executable (gphotoshow64.scr) is ok since it contains everything, gPhotoShow has no external components just a few support files that changes very seldom
