Occasionally a notification appears identifying a corrupt file encountered. Is there a way this tool can identify all problem images before assigning/starting the saver?

Unfortunately, this isn't possible. The only way would be to open each file at startup, but that would take a long time.
Sometimes, the file itself isn't even corrupt; it could be an unsupported format or the wrong extension.

open the error log and you will see what it contains. If not enough enable extended logging. It contains much more info.
