Somehow, I never noticed that when I added folders to my VIDEO AND ANIMATIONS collection, the first DIRECTORY I added showed up correctly, but the second was always truncated and incorrect. This could be a reason why my GPS Pro freezes every time a video plays when the normal screen saver kicks in... because the directory doesn't exist! Look at the file I attached. I literally REMOVED SELECTED, renamed my folders incase GPS Pro doesn't play nice with hashtags and changed the hash to a period ".", then ADD DIRECTORY. The first folder came up just fine as you can see. The second folder was truncated to "\Videos\". I tried 4, maybe 5x removing it, ADD DIRECTORY, no. Then ADD SUBDIR, no. No mater what I do, GPS Pro keeps putting an incorrect hyperlink with a similar name. For the first time in years, I actually just noticed this... (FIRST BUG: ADD DIRECTORY NOT WORKING ; VIDEOS CRASH).
Why did I notice this at all after years? Because for whatever reason, now GPS Pro freezes completely, when it freezes, locking me out; I cannot ctrl-alt-del, alt-f4, esc, nada.... screen is frozen completely and I have to hard reset holding the physical power button. Not cool. This has prompted me to revisit my settings once again. At first, once again, I couldn't find anything wrong. I was about to just delete this program because it's more like malware at this point, does not function at all as an actual screen-saver, only if you PREVIEW it. That's when I noticed the above issue. Anyway, to give you a play-by-play on why I'm so frustrated: I start GPS Pro. I LOAD > LOAD FROM REGISTRY. I remove all directories to VIDEO AND ANIMATIONS. I clicked on the bottom SAVE > SAVE TO REGISTRY. I wait for the screen saver to kick in. GPS Pro froze my computer again, but this time, no videos supposedly. I reboot my computer. I LOAD > LOAD FROM REGISTRY. Both fucking video directories are still on there and all the settings I supposedly changed are reverted; it's like the hard crash caused the registry changes to not save, or maybe the save button in GPS Pro just isn't working as intended? (SECOND BUG: HARD CRASH WITH JUST PICTURES AND NO EXIT ; REGISTRY SETTINGS NOT SAVING).
Just noticed a bug. Been there forever I guess
Re: Just noticed a bug. Been there forever I guess
There is no attached screen shot, it would be useful to see which kind of path you are using. Does they contain special chars or maybe they are very long ?
Anyway even if there are wrong path and file names the program will never crash or freeze, it will simply ignore them.
Other issues you reported unfortunately can't be reproduced

this means there some serious problem on your system (drivers or hw problem) a program like gPhotoShow can't freeze the system in that waynow GPS Pro freezes completely, when it freezes, locking me out; I cannot ctrl-alt-del, alt-f4, esc, nada.... screen is frozen completely and I have to hard reset holding the physical power button

Hopefully that works.
I hear what you're saying about GPS not being able to freeze a computer. Yet, IDK why this is the only program on my computer that is causing this effect, and my computer has never crashed, except when this screen saver kicks in. The problem seems very specific; if not GPS, then related to the screensaver function within Windows I guess. I will have to dig deeper.

Unfortunately, as I wrote before, none of the problems can be reproduced. I tried with the same names and didn't find any issue.
There are users who have dozens of directories in their list without any problem.
The freeze when screen saver runs can be related to OpenGL drivers, you could try the DX version of gPhotoShow, it uses DirectX 9 and it is possible it works better.

Sir, you may have been correct about the screen freezing issues. My NVidia gfx driver was not updating automatically because the GeForce Experience program is outdated, despite having a new gfx card. I had to manually update the driver. After I updated the gfx driver, I rebooted my system then I scanned for system errors using SFC and it found a few and repaired them. So far, the screen saver has kicked once without freezing up. Hopefully this continues to not freeze up.
EDIT: Nope. SS froze up pc yet again, however it seems I am not the only one:

Seems to be a Windows 11 issue, probably for those of us who had W10 and chose the free upgrade to W11. Seems I can only fix this with a complete system reinstall. Not cool. Good news is it's not related to gPhotoShow
As for the initial bug I was reporting on this thread, it's still active. I went to ADD DIRECTORY and ADD SUBDIR and I again, I can select the proper folder and it displays correctly in the "Folders" category however when I select a second folder, it again truncates it showing only "D:\PICTURES\Videos\" when the correct path is "D:\PICTURES\.Videos_OLD\". I do not believe this is not a system error on my end, and it is reproduceable 100% of the time. I just gave up on trying to select specific folders and finally put "D:\PICTURES\" and let gPhotoShow find the pictures in those two subdirectories.
EDIT: I should have added that I have the latest version: 10.1.1 (1596)

Re: Just noticed a bug. Been there forever I guess
gPhotoShow gets the name returned by the system dialog used to browse for a directory. gPhotoShow doesn't alter that name in any way but that behavior could be part of Windows file management, some paths in the system are "virtualized", Windows displays a friendly name to the user but the real path may be different.taemex wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 7:15 pm As for the initial bug I was reporting on this thread, it's still active. For example if you browse for a directory and choose "Pictures\MyDir" when closing the dialog in gPhotoShow you will see the actual path that can be anything, usually it's something like c:\users\YourUsername....
Maybe it's the same thing.

Lol, you are really smart! I mean that in the most sincere way possible. I navigated to the folder in Win Explorer and at first, I'm like, oh, this guy's wrong because at the top of the nav bar, I can see the folder as I said it was... but then I clicked on the path and it showed up as, "D:\PICTURES\Videos". I just learned something new. Hey, I'm sorry for all the grief I've been giving you. I really thought it was gPhotoShow that was the issue. Turns out I'm more windows noob than I ever realized, lol.gpb wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:23 pmgPhotoShow gets the name returned by the system dialog used to browse for a directory. gPhotoShow doesn't alter that name in any way but that behavior could be part of Windows file management, some paths in the system are "virtualized", Windows displays a friendly name to the user but the real path may be different.taemex wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 7:15 pm As for the initial bug I was reporting on this thread, it's still active.
