Screensaver freezes

Post by MTessieri »

I just installed gPhotoShow Pro 8.5.5 build1254 64-bit on a different computer running Win 10 Home 22H2. I set all the settings to match my prior computer setings for gPhotoShow. Screensaver kicks in, runs for a while, then freezes on an image. I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to regain control.

I am attaching Log and err files.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thx

Hello,
I downloaded the attached log files then removed them
From the log it seems gPhotoShow froze just after playing a video. Try to disable video playing, it should fix the issue.

Gianpaolo,

I turned off the video portion and the screensaver ran OK for hours. I turned the video option back on: Screensaver ran for about an hour, much longer than before, but then froze on an .MOV video.

ANy suggestions? Log and error Files attached.

Really like the videos!

From the log it seems VLC freezes at the end of the video, since it happens only on some video files it could be caused by some specific video. Anyway I am just guessing.
Some other user have reported this kind of issue but unfortunately there is no solution.

...Can I uninstall gPhoto and install another version? Seems to me there was a DX version. I could install version 9 or go back to version 7. Or upgrade to 10. Any suggestion on which to try first?

Thx.

You are using version 8 and it is using DirectX 9, version 10 have two variants GL (OpenGL ) and DX (DirectX 9) but this is only for displaying photos, video are played in the same way.
You can try version 10 but I don't think it will make any difference. Anyway you can try it freely. The program will work for 30 days without the need to purchase an upgrade. If there is no improvement you can install again version 8

Gianpaolo.

I gave up on the one computer and I am running gPhotoshow 8.5.5 another computer now. A Dell 23 inch AIO running Windows 10 Home 22H2 and an intel i5 processor. I still get the occassional freeze. See attached Log file...last part of the Log file to get it under 1MB (no err file this time).

ANy suggestions?

From the log I can see gPhotoShow freezes while executing a VLC Stop command. Today I tested gPhotoShow Pro v8.5.5 on a pc running Windows 11 and VLC 3.0.21 with a slideshow that mixed images and video but I could not see any issue. It worked for hours without stopping. Hard to say what causes the issue on your system.

Gianpaolo,

I upgraded to version 10. Still frooze after a few hours. Looks like I am getting an "out of memory" error now. Hopefully that my lead to a solution?

See truncated Log and Error files.

Thanks for all your help. Trying to get this running for my daughter.
