I recently upgraded hardware and software, finally moving from W8.1 to 11 (24H2) using a cloned SSD. As is customary for me, I immediately set my taskbar to auto hide. I then launched a slideshow I had previously created and used with 8.1, and could immediately see that I could not bring the hidden taskbar back into view by simply moving my mouse to the bottom of the screen (this worked flawlessly on 8.1).
I double checked the settings of the slideshow, made sure "top most" was still set to off, and even updated GPS to the latest version (9.012). The only workaround I've found is to have some other window open (Explorer or maybe a text file) when I start the slideshow, then move it off to a lower corner of the screen. That at least keeps it where I can move my mouse to bring the taskbar back into view. I did also try setting "Don't cover taskbar" to yes, but that just left an empty space at the bottom of each image.
Any suggestion on how I can restore proper functionality of the taskbar when GPS is running?

Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
The taskbar in Windows 10/11 has been completely rewritten and its behavior may be different than previous versions.
gPhotoShow does nothing to prevent the use of the taskbar
I guess you are running a slidehshow on a secondary monitor, in this case try to set the following options, it should work fine also with autohide

Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
Thanks, but that didn't help. I have 4 monitors, and the slideshow runs on 3 of them, including my main one. As soon as I start it and minimize any open windows, my taskbar is locked and won't pop back up when hovered over. If I am NOT running the slideshow, the taskbar works as expected every single time.
Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
When setting the above options gPhotoShow is a program like any other, it does nothing to prevent the use of the taskbar and there is no reason why the taskbar shouldn't work.
If you are using the GL version it is possible that the problem is caused by the OpenGL driver. You can try the DX version of gPhotoShow and see if anything changes

Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
I should note that I enabled the taskbar on all monitors, and it only fails on my main one. With the slideshow running, I could hover over the taskbar on the other monitors and it would display as expected. I'll try running the DX version just for the heck of it and will report back.
Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
DX version made no difference, nor did a full reinstall of the app.
Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
I did some tests, I think I figured out the cause of the problem but unfortunately at the moment can't be fixed.
The issue is caused by the combination of full screen and not resizable window, for now the only solution is to use a custom layout ("Multiple monitors" page, used monitors=Custom layout, then click on Layout)
When defining the custom layout leave some pixels at the bottom so the taskbar can be activated.

Thanks, will give that a try!
Re: Hidden taskbar can't be brought back into view
Confirmed, that does definitely help. I set the height for monitor 1 at 1079 and can now get the taskbar to pop back into view. Not an ideal solution, but it will certainly work for now. I hope you find a more permanent fix and release a build with it soon.
