Reducing file size

Post by juleha »

Is there an option to compress and reduce the final .scr file size?

I have three images that are roughly about 100-200kbs each at 1920x1080px. The final .scr file is coming up at just under 2MBs. My client is requesting for under 1MB. Is this possible, and if so, how?

Hello,
unfortunately it is not possible to keep file size under 1Mb, only gPhotoShow runtime (gPsEngine.exe) is about 1.6Mb, to this size you must add all files included in the screen saver.
Years ago we compressed gPsEngine.exe with UPX but most antivirus started to flag it as a malware, for this reason now it is not compressed any longer.

here is a compressed version of gPsEngine.exe
Replace gPsEngine.exe in the installation folder with the one included in the downloaded zip, it's much smaller but consider that it can be easily flagged as malware
