Scrapbook transitions

Post by breezeway »

Any chance the background pic as well as the overlay pics can transition at the same time to the next full photo? Presently the overlay photos transition first and then very shortly the full screen background photo transitions to the next full screen.

Scrapbook in gPhotoShow Pro has been designed in this way: first the background image is displayed, then after a configurable delay small pictures are added until the scrapbook is full and the process starts from the beginning.
We planned to improve it by adding some features but for now we don't think to display and already complete scrapbook. The reason is mostly the time needed to build it, if you have a scrapbook with several pictures the program could take 1 or more minutes to build it and a slideshow with such slow timings is not very useful.

I was wondering about the "out" transition once everything was built. Rather than all images transitioning immediately to the next full image, currently the smaller images fade out first followed shortly by a transition from the previous full screen image to the next.

It doesn't work exactly as you described, when using DirectX the fade-out of the small images and transition of the background to the next image start together but small images fade out in 1 second while the transition of the background may take more time depending on the transition speed you choose. We think in this way it works better since the new image starts appearing when the screen is free from the small images. Of course everybody may have his own opinion of what is "better" :) unfortunately adding too many settings not only makes the user interface cluttered with options but also makes the code more complex.
Anyway we already planned to improve the scrapbook mode I will see whether I can add something in this area.
