Re: Edit ratings with keys

Hello, gPhotoShow is a screen saver and slideshow program, you could exiftool as suggested in the FAQ but there are better tools to rate your pictures. If you wish to mark pictures for a review there are several ways, for example set a rating you are not using, set a keyword or create a shortcut in ...

Re: Media keys while screen saver is running.

It is not clear in which way you start the screen save but basically there are two ways: 1) start gPhotoShow directly (for example with the Preview button) 2) windows starts the configured screen saver (for example when idle time expires or with ControlSS menu item Start Screen Saver) I guess media ...

Re: Slow start with 8.3.1

I am afraid I can't do anything to workaround this issue. step 1 is the time needed to create an empty DirectX texture, a single DirectX api call. Probably it's a misbehavior in NVidia drivers, I wrote to NVidia developers forum to see if it is a known issue. For now only solution is to switch to St...

Re: Slow start with 8.3.1

Can you post the log lines beginning with "DXGraphics::TextureFromBitmapEx:" ? The first group is enough, just to see how much time take step 1 and 2. If step 1 is fast, maybe a workaround is possible. Anyway I can't understand why a low end Celeron is fast while some high end NVidia adapter are 100...

Re: Slow start with 8.3.1

This is the problem: 26-10-2020 16:31:54 : DXGraphics::TextureFromBitmapEx, final: 26453ms 26 seconds to create a DirectX texture. Usually it takes less than 100ms, even on a Celeron based mini pc with integrated display adapter: 23-10-2020 10:27:12 : DXGraphics::TextureFromBitmapEx, final: 94ms I h...

Re: Slow start with 8.3.1

Hello, unfortunately older versions are not available. Anyway I don't think the gPhotoShow version make any difference, changes in the latest versions are not relevant and should not cause such a slowdown. It is possible the slowdown is caused by an update to your system. Do you have any antivirus o...

Re: gphotoshow pro is killing hard drives

I have gphotoshow pro v 7.4.10 and i am certain it is responsible to killing several of my drives both mechinal and SSDs. This is funny, how can you think a software can break a hard drive ?? Hard drives (mechanical or SSD) are built to perform and incredibly high number of write/read cycles in cas...

Re: Black Screen/Crash

A few users reported slowdowns with DirectX, in particular with texture creation. Usually this operation takes few milliseconds but sometimes it takes until 20 seconds. This means that gPhotoShow starts quickly but loading the first image takes a long time (and screen stays black). This slowdown is ...
