HEIF/HEIC read EXIF not working?

Thanks for a great application!
My current setup is actually for my mother, in a nursing home. Me and my brother use a shared album on Google Photos which is displayed on our mother's computer. great way for her to feel a bit more connected with the family.

Now, my brother and his family are using iPhones - and their images get saved as HEIC.
I amended the file endings to the gPhotoShow setup, and the images show a expected.
Almost...

It seems the EXIF data is not loaded from HEIC files?
I use this setup:

to show the date the image was taken.
It works fine on the JPEG files, but not the HEIC files.

Hello,
I am sorry but gPhotoShow can only read exif tags from natively supported formats, since heic is loaded using an optional codec it is not able to read exif, I am also not sure the codec itself is able to read exif tags.

At least in Win 11, the codec does read the EXIF data. It is shown in the Properties->Details window in Explorer e.g.
